Description

This is the guitar transcription of an old and rare waltz composed and played by Hans’Che Weiss in tribute to the gypsy violinist Schnuckenack Reinhardt.

In December 1969 an outstanding solo guitarist joined the Schnuckenack Reinhardt Quintett. That was the Sinto Häns’Che Weiss, born in 1951 in Berlin, who carries on the quintet’s guitarist tradition founded by Daweli Reinhardt, Bobby Falta and Benno Adel.

Häns’Che starded playing the guitar at the age of 13. When he was 17 years old, together with his friend Kirschmann Rose, he carried off the first prize at a Musical Festival organised by the Radio Station RIAS BERLIN. His very first perfomances as a side-man of Schnuckenack Reinhardt opened up a wealth of new possibilities for the further musical development of the group.

Both the clan of the Biale, to which the Weiss family belongs, and the Reinhardt clan are know among the German Sinti for their great musicians. Although Häns’Che grew up in the musical tradition of his clan he has closely followed new trends especially in the field of the jazz guitar by which he was deeply influenced. His play is dynamic, swinging, and his improvisations are full of ideas.

On the Musik Deutscher Zigeuner Vol 3 CD Häns’Che leads with jazz improvisations and with two Swing Waltz numbers. Valse à Schnuckenack is the young guitarist’s first composition of which he gives an exquisite performance.
