Description
This transcription is based on the performance by Paul Yandell, as heard on the DVD Fingerstyle Legacy.
The piece was originally composed by Joseph Carl Breil, and its fingerstyle guitar arrangement was later popularized by Chet Atkins.
Paul Yandell, a longtime collaborator and musical partner of Chet Atkins, delivers here a highly refined and precise interpretation, deeply rooted in the thumb-picking tradition.
Although an official transcription is included with the DVD, it contains many inaccuracies. I therefore chose to retranscribe this version entirely by ear, aiming to remain as faithful as possible to the rhythm, articulations, dynamics, and musical intent.
The goal was to create a “perfect transcription” for a “perfect song”, intended for guitarists who want to play this piece exactly as it is performed.
